French Rugby Union side FC Grenoble Rugby is part of the sport science revolution after announcing a brand-new partnership with Kitman Labs.

The Athlete Optimization System, which includes the Profiler analytics engine, the Capture markerless motion capture product and the Athlete application is now being used at the French Top 14 side’s training base.

Kitman Labs software system captures real-time data, allowing sports practitioners access to intelligent that help them make informed decisions to prevent the risk of injury aid injury prevention.

Grenoble aren’t the only Rugby Union side to use Kitman Labs’ software, as it was recently announced that both Bath and Gloucester have agreed partnerships with the sports technology company.

The ground-breaking software is being used across the globe, notably in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins and the Premier League with Everton and Norwich City. Teams use the system to evaluate player data in real-time and help reduce injury rates and increase team performance.

Injuries costs can cost teams in the million; Kitman Labs’ aim is to provide teams with a system that can alert coaching staffs of their player health and availability, to minimize the risk of injury.

Stephen Smith, co-founder and CEO of Kitman Labs said: “We’re excited to work with Grenoble, a side of great prominence and pedigree. One of our shared goals was to use the Athlete OS as a centralized platform of data that could enhance communications across the entire team, from coaches to medical staff.”

Gareth Adamson at FC Grenoble Rugby, said: “We’re pleased to engage with Kitman Labs. We have a large amount of data that we needed to collect and assess and The Athlete OS helps reduces many of the labor-intensive processes we had in place.

“Time our staff spend trawling through numbers will now be spent working with the players. It will save us a lot of time which can now be applied to improving as a team.”

“The system’s performance alerts will help us identify players at risk for injury and help be more effective in our actions on the field. Injury prevention is a huge part of a successful team, keeping players fit throughout a season gives you the best chance to be competitive,” he added.

Founded in 2012 in Dublin by Stephen Smith, former Head of Athletic training at Leinster Rugby, Kitman Labs has grown rapidly, opening its first US office in 2014. Built by practitioners for practitioners, Kitman Labs has agreements around the world with Irish Rugby Union, Bath Rugby, Gloucester Rugby, NFL’s Miami Dolphins, the Barclay’s Premier League’s Norwich City and Everton and the NBA’s Detroit Pistons.
