Next Stop Mexico, the Heart of the World’s Fastest Growing Sports Market
In 2016 Soccerex, the global leader for the business of football, will be heading to Mexico for the Soccerex Americas Forum, 11-12 May, where over 1000 industry decision makers will gather from across North & South America, for a unique business experience in the fastest growing sports market in the world.
Following an initial announcement at the Soccerex Global Convention in September, Soccerex have now confirmed that the Americas Forum, staged in partnership with leading Mexican sports marketing agency Global W Mexico, will take place in Mexico City at the iconic Camino Real Polanco Hotel.
This unmissable two day event will connect senior football business figures from across the Americas, delivering return on investment for any organisation active in, or looking to engage with, this important market. The Forum provides a series of insight, networking and social opportunities via a conference programme tackling the most pressing issues in the region, an exhibition consisting of the continent’s leading buyers and suppliers and a variety of social events, all taking place in close proximity to the FIFA Congress which will see representatives from all 209 international football federations gather in the same district of the City from the evening of 12 May.
Commenting on the announcement, Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie said:
“Mexico is such an iconic football destination, having hosted two of the most memorable World Cups in history, and I am delighted that we will be bringing the Soccerex experience to Mexico City – our 16th city in 20 years – in partnership with the great team at Global W Mexico. Delegates at the Forum can expect our proven blend of networking, business value and that sprinkling of stardust that makes our events unique, including involvement of our ambassador Carlos Alberto Torres, the captain of that legendary Brazil team that lifted the Jules Rimet trophy in the Azteca Stadium in 1970. I look forward to welcoming the football world to Mexico in May”.
Combining the huge financial and sporting clout of nations such as Mexico, USA, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina, the Americas were said by PWC in their “Changing the Game” report to represent over 45% of the global sports market and to collectively be the fastest growing sports market in the world.
Mexico is a passionate football nation whose domestic league dominates not just the Mexican but also the US soccer landscape, where Liga MX is the most watched league ahead of MLS and the Premier League. The Mexican national team “El Tri” is a commercial behemoth, able to tap into the huge fanbase across the Mexican communities in North America via multiple broadcast and sponsorship agreements.
In the USA, Don Garber recently cited the Hispanic community as one of key drivers of the continued growth and popularity of MLS in the USA – where football is now the third most watched sport – along with their willingness to embrace technology and innovative marketing strategies. In South America, football power houses like Brazil and Argentina continue to boast some of the biggest names in the game and supply world football with the most players, being the first and second biggest exporters of players respectively according a recent report by FIFA TMS.
So whether your business is in sponsorship, sports marketing, broadcasting, the transfer market, player development – or in fact any area of the football industry – the Soccerex Americas Forum will offer an unrivalled platform for key organizations from the region to connect with their counterparts from across the rest of world.
