England captain Wayne Rooney tops the social media players list across the four Home Nations and has become the first UK athlete to pass 10 million followers on Twitter.
Rooney, who was given the captain’s armband from Roy Hodgson at the start of the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, has over 35 million fans across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Wales and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is second with almost 30 million social media fans. Like Rooney, Bale has a fan base of over 20 million on Facebook.
Fellow Welshman Aaron Ramsey sits in third with six million fans, whilst the seven players who complete the list are in the England senior squad.
The list includes 10 international players that amass 97.8 million fans.
