Great Britain rowers from Leander Rowing Club have spent two days at the Perform high performance centre at the National Football Centre, St George’s Park.
Thanks to a partnership between Spire Hospital and the world famous rowing club, the female development squad were able to take advantage of Perform‘s sports rehabilitation facilities and the outdoor team leadership centre.
Leander also attended a sports science workshop with Ian Aylward.
Through a developing partnership with Spire Healthcare and Perform, the Great Britain rowers have been able to utilise world-class on-site facilities and expert knowledge to add their skills.
High performance coach, Jane Hall from Leander Rowing Club, said: “We have had a fantastic two days with Perform.
“There are a number of aspects from football and other team sports that can easily be transferred to rowing and being able to access this up-to-date equipment and people who are really knowledgeable all under one roof has made it an unbelievable experience for all involved in the crew.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Perform for organising the camp; it was everything we hoped for and some.
“The girls all gained hugely from the time at St George’s Park and Perform and the facilities and staff were incredible.
“We only hope that we can come again because the whole trip has helped to start 2015 in the most positive way imaginable”
Phil Horton, Perform director, said; “We are delighted to welcome the up and coming GB Rowers from Leander Club to Perform.
“In the past year we have had a number of different sports join us at the National Football Centre to take advantage of both the world-class facilities and our expert knowledge and we look forward to welcoming even more in 2015.”
Since opening back in October 2012, St George’s Park has – along with all 24 England national teams and more than 500 grassroots clubs – welcomed representative teams from across the sporting community.
