National football chief Gordon Strachan and ex-boss Craig Brown’s favourite old runaround will make a comeback with a much more fashionable and high-class look.

Good news for Scotland football boss Gordon Strachan and ex-chief Craig Brown – the Vauxhall Viva is almost on our roads again.

Vauxhall, who sponsor the national team, announced that the Viva name is returning to the showrooms as a five-door entry-level model – and will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in early March.

The five-door model’s name is a throwback to Vauxhall‘s original Viva which was on sale from 1963 to 1979.

Strachan revealed last year that he drove a Viva while he was a player at Aberdeen — especially at night to get his baby son to sleep!

Brown also mentioned that he had a Viva back in 1965 and bought it with his very first signing on fee of £650 as a player at Dundee.

More than 100,000 Vivas were manufactured at Vauxhall‘s plant in Ellesmere Port in Cheshire.

The Viva will sit below the Corsa and Adam. It will be a five-door with four or five seats with a range of trims and equipment levels.
