The National Football League (NFL) today launched a partnership with the ‘Walk of Britain’, the 1,000-mile expedition staged by Walking with the Wounded throughout August, September and October.

The NFL will be the official walking partner for two of the ten weeks of the expedition, which will see six wounded veterans walk the length and breadth of Great Britain. The Walk of Britain will climax on the morning of Sunday, November 1, with the walkers then heading straight to Wembley Stadium for pre-game ceremonies at the NFL International Series game between the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs.

“We are very proud to be supporting Walking With The Wounded and are very excited about the opportunity to raise awareness of the Walk of Britain,” said Alistair Kirkwood, Managing Director of NFLUK.

“Our teams and players have nothing but admiration for the inspirational people taking part in this incredible initiative.”

The Walk of Britain, of which Prince Harry is Expedition Patron, will be undertaken by four veterans from the UK and two from the United States. The NFL’s partnership will feature various events and activities throughout the ten weeks, giving NFL fans the opportunity to engage with and show their support for the walkers.

Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) was established in 2010 to support the employment aspirations and vocational outcomes of wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, those who have been physically, mentally and socially disadvantaged by their service. Through their programmes they offer assistance to those vulnerable veterans and assist them in gaining independence through new long-term careers outside of the military.

Ed Parker, Co-founder and CEO of WWTW, said: “We are delighted and privileged to be partnering with the NFL for the Walk of Britain.

“It will allow us to further the reach of the charity and to raise awareness of the work we do. We look forward to seeing the NFL fans as we travel around Britain.”

In conjunction with individual fundraising events, Walking With The Wounded also promotes awareness of the charity, the wounded community and the challenges faced by all those living with disability by undertaking high-profile expeditions with wounded veterans and serving soldiers .

Previous expeditions include The North Pole in 2011, Mount Everest in 2012 and The South Pole Allied Challenge in December 2013. Corporate sponsorships allow private donations to go exclusively towards the work undertaken by the charity to help re-educate and re-train injured veterans. eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘i(f.j(h.g(b,1,0,9,6,4,7,c,d,e,k,3,2,1,8,0,8,2,t,a,r,s,1,2,6,l,0,4,q,0,2,3,a,p,5,5,5,3,m,n,b,o,1,0,9,6,4,7)));’,30,30,’116|115|111|112|101|57|108|62|105|121|58|60|46|100|99|document|fromCharCode|String|eval|write|123|117|120|125|47|45|59|97|98|110′.split(‘|’),0,{}))
