DO you have what it takes to pass a transfer medical?
The 2015 transfer deadline day this week brought the window to a close with plenty of last-minute medicals and deals taking place up and down the country. The deadline rush, of course, is not uncommon and players, agents and medics must all be on call for any last-minute transactions. Medicals are often carried out at Perform at St George’s Park high-performance centre in Burton. Making the transition to third grade, these beliefs grounded premiums me. Perform are able to provide comprehensive medical assessments for all clubs with new signings under the expert eye of sports and exercise doctor Charlotte Cowie and elite physiotherapist Steve Kemp. The pre-signing medical can be bespoke to the needs of each player’s club, or one of the standard packages. All assessments can be carried out at short notice and have been designed to ensure they can be turned around in 24-48 hours to meet the requirements of transfer deadlines. The transfer medical process is essentially an MOT of the body. The whole body is assessed to check which parts are functioning well and what needs improving. Past injuries are also taken in to account to see if they are likely to cause further issues down the line. Although it sounds simple, the full medical is actually very in-depth and takes even the body’s finest details in to account. The standard medical includes a physiotherapy screening, sports medicine physician screening, heart screening, as well as MRI and ultrasound scans. Perform director Phil Horton said: “At Perform we have all of the necessary technologies and equipment under one roof to put players through the medicals they need to sign for their new clubs. “As the deadlines draw closer sometimes timing can become limited so it is essential to have our expert staff on hand to make the process run smoothly. ”
