IBF Super Middleweight World Champion James DeGale this week returned to Perform at St. George’s Park for his World title defence preparation camp.

It was in May this year that the 29 year old beat Andre Dirrel for his first World title victory and in turn became Britain’s first Olympic gold medalist ever to win a professional world championship. On November 28th DeGale will enter the ring again but this time against Romanian Canadian Lucian Bute in Canada for his title defence.

DeGale has been making great use of the high class facilities housed at the National Football Centre in order to gain the best physical benefits in preparation for his fight. His hard graft for glory continues with four weeks of training to go.

The 2008 Olympic Champion who is supported by Perform at St. George’s Park has been following a tight training schedule from the expert team of Sports Scientists who have provided DeGale with a meticulous preparation programme to help him fine-tune elements of his training.

As well as the Sport Science benefits of fitness testing, James has utilized the Perform facilities to progress his training to the next level. The heat chamber and hydrotherapy pool have been fundamental to his day-to-day training schedule. The heat chamber pushes the boundaries of physical stamina to improve the body’s anaerobic capacity, while the hydrotherapy pool allows the body to recover and repair as quickly as possible.

Another boxer and member of the GB Boxing Development Squad aiming to pursue glory is 23-year-old Frazer Clarke. The Burton super-heavyweight is determined to secure a place in the British team for next year’s Olympics in Rio before turning professional.

Since claiming the bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and further becoming 2014 England Boxing Elite Champion, Frazer has been able to capitalize on the World Class facilities in his hometown. As well as using his Sheffield base at the English Institute of Sport, Clarke will also be using the facilities at the National Football Centre to continue his Olympic preparations.

All Perform facilities are available for sports clubs and teams to hire for exclusive use.
