Vital elements such as the City of Football Board and the governance of the project are all in place and we are now delivering projects throughout Nottingham. “I am immensely proud that Nottingham was crowned the first ever City of Football, there are already some very positive improvements for football in the city and I look forward to continuing the fantastic work that is going on to drive participation in the beautiful game. ”
Nottingham was crowned England’s City of Football by Sport England and will receive £1. 6million of National Lottery funding over the next two years. Key challenges to be met include getting more people playing football across Nottingham promoting the cultural, social, health and educational benefits of football, supporting diversity among those playing football, and creating new initiatives, which can be replicated across other regions in the country.
