A rare opportunity for you and seven team mates to play at St George’s Park is being auctioned in memory of legendary England manager Sir Bobby Robson.
This unbelievable opportunity to play at the home of England’s training camp – sharing the same pitch and dressing room as graced by the likes of Wayne Rooney and Joe Hart – is being offered as part of the Sir Bobby’s Online Auction which closes on Sunday 29 November.
The Sir Bobby’s LMA Football Tournament, in association with St George’s Park, is among the star auction items in the two-week fundraiser, which has attracted 140 money-can’t-buy experiences from the world of sport, celebrity and lifestyle.
Football teams and businesses around the country and beyond are being encouraged to bid for a chance to play in the eight-team tournament, with two media teams from MailOnline and talkSPORT competing too.
The prize includes full use of the changing facilities at the home of the English Football Association and coaching from a LMA ambassador.
Harry Redknapp, Terry Butcher and George Burley have pledged their support to ‘manage’ individual teams at this fantastic football tournament.
Terry Butcher, who made his professional debut under Sir Bobby at Ipswich Town and then played under him during the 1986 and 1990 World Cups, has donated three magnificent prizes – including two iconic images from his career with the Three Lions.
One photo captures his famous, blood-stained face and England shirt from the 1989 World Cup qualifier in Sweden while the other shows him consoling Paul Gascoigne after the semi-final defeat to West Germany in Italia 90.
Terry said: “I am delighted to have been involved in the Sir Bobby’s Online Auction since day one. I felt the time was right to donate the signed images and also the fact that I can’t wait to personally manage one of the teams in the Sir Bobby’s LMA Football Tournament.
“I remain as competitive as ever so I will be going all out to ensure my side is victorious. Please dig deep and do whatever you can to support this amazing auction in memory of a wonderful person and football manager.”
The auction item also includes a tour of St George’s Park and full kit with the five highest bidders, and their team, all taking their place in the tournament, scheduled for next September.
The Sir Bobby Robson Online Auction also offers a chance to own priceless pieces of sporting memorabilia donated by some of the most famous names in football.
Household names Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho and Wayne Rooney have joined forces to lend their support.
They have been joined by some of the biggest clubs in the world including Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United to offer a glittering array of money-can’t prizes to raise money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and In The Game – the League Managers Association Charity, among other charities.
Some of Sir Bobby’s former clubs – Ipswich Town, Newcastle United and PSV Eindhoven – have joined Barca in offering fabulous prizes while the managers he inspired – Mourinho and Andre Villas Boas among them – have donated star auction items.
Ipswich Town defender Kevin Beattie, once described by Sir Bobby as one of the best players he had ever managed, has donated his England cap from the 5-0 win over Cyprus in 1975.
The auction boasts a host of matchday experiences at Premier League giants while you can also experience what it takes to work in the media at Newcastle, have lunch with Ledley King, meet up with Rangers boss Mark Warburton just hours before his team pay at Ibrox or Neil Harris is inviting you to become a ‘footballer for the day’ with Millwall.
But it is not just football that is well represented in this year’s Sir Bobby’s Online Auction, which has raised more than £700,000 since its inception four years ago, with a host of auction items from the world of sport, celebrity and lifestyle.
