A media opportunity has arisen to take part in a mock Transfer Deadline Day medical at the National Football Centre at St George’s Park.
The Perform centre at St Georges Park is home to top-class clinicians and state-of-the-art equipment with an internationally-renowned centre of excellence for sports and exercise medicine, performance science, injury rehabilitation and strength and conditioning.
We have an opportunity for you to experience a typical transfer medical with Dr Charlotte Cowie, England physiotherapist Steve Kemp and Perform’s lead Sports Scientist Dr Carl Wells.
Dr Charlotte Cowie is Clinical Director for Perform at St. George’s Park. Charlotte has an immense wealth of elite football medicine experience. Over an impressive 20 year career in sports medicine Charlotte has gained experience in numerous sports, tennis, athletics, synchronised swimming, boxing and cycling to name but a few, so brings a wide variety of skills and huge professional credibility to Perform at St. George’s Park. During 2012 Charlotte worked as part of Team GB at her third Olympic games.
Steve Kemp is the Elite Football Physiotherapist for Perform at St. George’s Park. With elite football clinical experience as Head of Medical Services for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Steve has over 12 years’ experience as a physiotherapist working in a sports environment. He was worked extensively with football teams both in the UK and worldwide, including stints at Leeds United, Preston North End and Busan Icons in South Korea.
Dr Carl Wells has a wealth of Sports Science experience. He previously worked at Sheffield Wednesday FC for 7 years, first within the academy as Head of Sport Science and Medicine and then for the first team, achieving promotion in the 2011 – 2012 season.
They will be able to talk through the type of physical assessments players are put through, what happens on the day and give an insight in to the way they work.
