Footy Fit Transition blends together the expression of dance and agility of football to create a fun, exciting and unique experience for all.

There is a huge drop in the number girls pursuing sport once they move up to secondary school and Nottingham City of Football hope classes like this will help to change that.

Joseph Hall, Dance Artist from Nottingham said, “I am very excited to start the new Footy Fit Transition Project, we will look to experiment the use of a coach student relationship with the plan to use the same coach in school year 5, 6 and 7. ”

“This should help to create a better relationship between coaches and their students. ”

“It will also make the girls feel more comfortable when taking the big step up in to secondary school. ”

The new project will help City of Football hit targets as some of their key challenges to be met include raising the levels of participation in football across Nottingham, promoting the cultural, social, health and educational benefits of football, supporting diversity among those playing football, and creating new initiatives, which can be replicated across other regions in the country.

Katie Gibson, Programme and Partners Coordinator for Nottingham City of Football commented “Linking up with Epic partners to run the project in the city was a fantastic opportunity we couldn’t pass up”

“The partnership sees Nottingham City of Football offering summer sessions open to all girls aged 9 to 12 years old, hosted at three schools within the St Ann’s and Sneinton areas of the city. ”

“We are very pleased to have someone who is as recognisable and talented as Joseph is heading up the project, I hope to see a large number of girls take up the sessions and return year on year. ”
