Nottingham Forest will take over 1,500 away fans to Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday night despite ongoing train problems in the area.

Forest fans will make the 400-mile round trip on the free coach travel that has been supplied by lead sponsor 888sport as part of their #FansFirst campaign.

The South East has been hit by severe rail problems due to a 5 day strike by Southern Rail which won’t end until the weekend.

888sport will supply free travel to all midweek league fixtures prior to Christmas in a bid to help the team in their quest for promotion to the English Premier League.

In the past 11 seasons the team that has been top of the league at Christmas has been promoted automatically – with the exception of Watford in 2007.

Indeed the top three teams in the Championship last season Burnley, Middlesborough and Brighton also had the most away points in the division.

Away support could prove vital in the run up to Christmas with 16% of all away wins in 2015/16 coming by just a one goal margin.

To watch every away league fixture this season Nottingham Forest fans will travel over 2320 miles at an average of 101 miles per game.

Chris Cohen, captain of Nottingham Forest, commented; “The players and staff are very grateful to 888sport for putting on the free travel to midweek away games for the fans.

“Travelling support makes a huge difference to the team on the field and the noise will go up a level thanks to this kind gesture.”

Itai Pazner, Senior Vice President and Head of B2C at 888 Holdings, added; “We are very excited to be kicking off our Championship campaign with one of the most prestigious clubs in the competition.

“We believe that the Championship has retained the essence of true football and understand that fans are the heartbeat of every club, so we really want to help them with things that will make a significant difference to their relationship with their team.”

“We know how difficult it can be for fans to make the long journeys to away games in midweek, particularly when fixtures are changed with little notice and there are no return trains home.

“We are hoping that the free coaches will help get more travelling fans to and from the games and give the teams a real boost on the pitch.”

As part of the “888sport Fans First” Campaign, the company also plan to offer the best odds in the market to fans from our sponsored clubs and as part of the sponsorship, Forest fans will also get the opportunity to take up the Goals Means More promotion on and get a free £5 bet every time their team scores a goal.

To kick-off the “888sport Fans First” Campaign, 888sport is releasing a video showcasing the clubs unsung hero, Dan Smith, the first team Kitman. The video includes never-before-seen footage celebrating Dan’s hard work and gives fans a deeper insight into the realities of Championship life.
