Multi award-winning sports communications agency Macesport, has today announced two new appointments adding to its specialist digital and PR units.
Shaun Wheatcroft takes up the position of Head of Digital, while Maryke Penman has been appointed to Head of PR at the Nottingham-based firm.
The appointments follow the promotion of long-time Account Director Ben Thompson to CEO and a series of new international and domestic business wins.

Wheatcroft returns to Macesport following time at creative agency Absolute where he specialised in web design, website management and digital strategy for largescale brands.
Having previously held the position of Digital Account Manager at Macesport in 2015, Wheatcroft re-joins the Macesport Team due to his expertise in producing outstanding branded content and delivering successful digital campaigns across all platforms for a number of globally recognised sports clients.
As Head of Digital, Wheatcroft is tasked with leading Macesport’s digital strategy to drive business growth, deliver exceptional service for clients and implement creative use of new and cutting-edge digital tools to augment client campaigns.

Penman joins Macesport with a rich background in news and sports journalism and corporate PR. Having relocated to Nottingham from New Zealand where she held the position of Senior Account Manager at full-service PR agency Acumen Republic, Penman brings a depth of experience in PR strategy and content generation, having worked for international brands including Unilever, Coca-Cola, Microsoft and HP.
As Head of PR, Penman will lead on strategic communications campaigns for clients in the UK and abroad, managing media relations and delivering content in conjunction with the digital and events arms of the business. Outside of working hours, Penman is playing for the Loughborough Lightning in the Tyrell’s Premier 15s national women’s rugby league.
Macesport Account Manager Abi Haywood has also been promoted to Head of Partnerships and Events and will lead Macesport’s event team in continuing to deliver successful events for our clients across the UK and around the world.
Macesport clients include the NFL, William Hill, Kitman Labs, Air Race 1, Fuel for Sport, Soccerex and was the driving force behind Vauxhall’s seven-year lead sponsorship of the England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales national football associations.
