Hammarby Fotboll’s attempt for a top three finish in Sweden’s Allsvenskan has been boosted thanks to a new partnership with award-winning sports science company Kitman Labs and its Athlete Optimization System™.
Medical and performance staff at Hammarby Fotboll use Kitman Labs’ cloud-based platform and mobile apps to monitor player health in real-time, leveraging insights from the system to make evidence-based decisions on how to drive performance or reduce injury risk.
Mikael Klotz, Hammarby’s Head of Medical, spearheads the new partnership with Kitman Labs and speaks highly of the changes the system has made so far.
“By entering data for individual athletes into Kitman Labs, the coaches now have a good way to measure and manage player load each week. We also use the system’s flexible alarms to identify fatigue markers, which I can use to quickly highlight which athletes are at risk and make immediate modifications to their training to reduce this risk.”
Part of Hammarby Fotboll’s decision to partner with Kitman Labs came from the organisations ambition to build a winning culture and be Allsvenskan’s leading high performance team. The development of their new training centre is a testament to Hammarby’s determination to achieve this goal. The centre which is due to launch later this year will include Kitman Labs’ station-based screening and markerless biomechanical products that will help staff to seamlessly collect data from athletes.
Hammarby Fotboll is the latest in a long line of elite sports clubs across the globe to join forces with Kitman Labs, which has offices in Dublin, Republic of Ireland and Silicon Valley, California, USA. Kitman Labs works with over 150 teams across the planet and the company’s systems are available in 30 different languages – including Swedish.
“It’s great to see that our latest innovations have helped Hammarby to leverage all the data they are collecting, and in turn helped them to deliver a winning performance across the whole season,” said Stephen Smith, CEO and Founder of Kitman Labs.
Kitman Labs’ other football-based clients include EPL clubs Everton and AFC Bournemouth, Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, Bundesliga side FC Augsburg and MLS teams LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo and MLS champions Toronto FC. The UFC, National Rugby League (Australia), Buffalo Bills, New York Yankees and both the Irish and South Africa rugby unions are among Kitman Labs clients in other sports.
