British Canoeing has today announced ready-made sports meals brand Fuel for Sport as its official performance meal provider.

The Nottingham-based sports nutrition specialist will supply athletes with its trademark range of convenient, ready-to-eat meals that pass the dietary test, to help fuel their training and competitions, including overseas competitions where familiar and nutritionally-balanced meals are not always easy to come by.

Gareth May, British Canoeing Business Development Manager said, “We are delighted to partner with Fuel For Sport. Their solution to provide nutritional ‘ready’ meals that meet our athletes’ dietary requirements is fantastic.

“It is a real help to those athletes who need a food source that they can rely on when away at competition, or as a quick solution if unable to prepare and cook a meal after a day’s training. The variety on offer has proven to be very popular with the athletes, and we look forward to forging a partnership with Fuel For Sport.”

Designed to be eaten hot, or cold, and without the need for refrigeration, Fuel for Sport meals will be a welcome addition to the kit-bags and pantries of British Canoeing athletes who train up to 25 hours a week on the water and in the gym.

Alongside providing in-competition meals and snacks, Fuel for Sport will also provide regular meal drops throughout the calendar year to British Canoeing’s official training headquarters at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham.

Fuel for Sport Director Tom Mawhood said, “British Canoeing has a proud history of success on the world stage and we’re excited to partner with them as they work towards dominating on the international circuit.

“We understand the challenges athletes have when it comes to preparing meals that not only meet their strict dietary requirements but are also tasty and convenient. We believe Fuel for Sport is a solution they can trust, that will help to give them time back in their day and take the guesswork out of meal prep.`’

Each recipe has been developed in association with leading sport nutritionists and includes almost 40g of protein per serving to help repair and build muscle and enough carbohydrate to fuel high-intensity exercise.

The partnership is in addition to Fuel for Sport’s existing athlete sponsorships which include; British canoe sprint athlete and Olympian Rebeka Simon, 2016 Paralympic Paracanoeist Champion Emma Wiggs, Junior Canoe Marathon Silver Medallist Charlie Smith, International rugby stars like Bath Rugby and England international Zach Mercer, Scotland stars Blair Kinghorn, Jamie Ritchie and Magnus Bradbury, Nottingham Rugby and Canada international Shane O’Leary and England netballer Jade Clarke.

Fuel for Sport meals are available to order online in five meal variations including; Chicken & Tomato Curry, Chilli & Rice, Mexican Tuna Pasta, Thai Chicken Curry and Turkey Meatballs & Pasta. All meals have a shelf-life of 12 months without refrigeration.
