Home Nations To Travel 5,495 Miles Supporting Their Teams

England, Northern Ireland and Wales fans will travel a staggering 5,495 miles to watch their teams play at next summer’s tournament in France but will be well supported by lead sponsor, Vauxhall.

Northern Ireland will travel the furthest after they were drawn Germany, Ukraine and Poland and will play in Nice, Lyon and Paris meaning fans will travel 1,919 miles to watch their side play in the group stage.

One tank of fuel in the new Vauxhall Astra will allow fans to travel to the Stade Velodrome in Marseille, the southern most stadium of the tournament with fuel to spare from Wembley Stadium.

England were drawn against Russia, Slovakia and Wales at the draw in Paris on Sunday and will play in Marseille as well as Lens and St Etienne. England fans will cover 1,793 miles supporting their team over the course of the group stage if they were to leave from Wembley Stadium.

Wales fans will travel 1,783 miles, the smallest distance of the three nations after they were drawn against fellow Home Nations side England, Russia and Slovakia, which sees them play in Bordeaux, Lens and Toulouse over the course of the group stage phase.

Andrew Curley, Head of Sponsorship and Events at Vauxhall said: “As the team’s sponsor we will do our upmost to support the travelling fans and ensure they have a safe and enjoyable tournament when driving across France to the matches.

“At Vauxhall we’re excited to be supporting England, Northern Ireland and Wales as they look to do their nations proud.”
