St Mirren Star Boosted By MJP Training
St Mirren’s new midfielder Kieran Sadlier admits training with athletics legend Michael Johnson in the summer will help him terrify SPFL Premiership defences.
Johnson has held the 400 metres world record since 1999 and former West Ham starlet Sadlier was thrilled to work on his running technique with him.
And the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international – who has signed with the Buddies until the end of the season – is desperate to put that advice to good use over the coming few months.
Sadlier, 20, said: “I have been at West Ham since I was 11 after joining them from my hometown club Cambridge United.
“But three weeks ago I was told I wouldn’t be getting a new contract.
“My agent knew Gary Teale so that’s how I ended up signing for St Mirren .
“I’m in good shape after spending a couple of weeks in the close season training with the former Olympic sprinter Michael Johnson at St George’s Park in Staffordshire.
“That was an amazing experience and you are in awe of someone who has achieved as much in the world of sport as he has.
“He was working on our styles of running. I’m now much faster than I used to be so hopefully I can make a big impact at St Mirren.”
